UVic Business School Offers Leadership Courses for Skilled Trades Professionals

Skilled trades professionals across British Columbia can access new leadership and business training through the University of Victoria's Gustavson School of Business. The school is offering a series of short executive courses that can help trades workers build management skills, improve decision-making, and advance their careers.

Founded in 1990, the Gustavson School delivers training programs based on four key areas: integrative, innovative, regenerative, and inclusive. Its courses emphasize leadership, service excellence, project management, and sustainability. The programs are designed to support both individual career growth and stronger workplace performance through practical hands-on learning.

Experienced trades professionals are invited to register for the following professional development courses as listed on the TradeUpBC website. These courses focus on leadership and people management, delivering practical knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied in the workplace.

Self-Managed Leadership

This 12-hour online course is designed for new and experienced leaders. It teaches participants how to build trust within teams and organizations and how to manage complex workplace challenges. Students will gain the skills and knowledge required to build strong working relationships and encourage accountability and commitment.

A five-hour online course delivered in three modules that explores the psychology behind positive customer and employee experiences.
